On Wednesday December 13th the NHGCSA hosted our annual education day and vendor expo and thanks to everyone who attended the event was a tremendous success! We had 107 attendees checked in along with 14 vendor expo tables. We were treated to a great education session with 4 enlightening speakers kicked off with a regional season recap from Elliott Dowling East Region Director of the USGA Greens section. Elliott was followed by a lively presentation from David Rousseau the Director of the New Hampshire Division of Pesticide control on reporting updates and changes coming down the line from the EPA in regards to endangered species and possible effects to products we depend on. After David we broke and provided more time for attendees to visit the Vendor tables to chat and check out the wonderful displays they all put out. The second session began with the always entertaining Dr. Geunhwa Jung to discuss fungicide resistance and the importance of having a sound rotation program to be able to continue to control Dollar Spot. We wrapped up the day with Jason Lanier from the UMASS Extension with an interesting approach on how to look past relying only on traditional turf for ground cover and how to properly approach “no mow” areas for site beautification. After the education sessions we were treated to a fantastic lunch put on by the folks from the Grappone Center. All attendees were provided the opportunity to gather 4 NH pesticide credits and .4 GCSAA education points.
